Pyongtaek Port (평택항)
For a short family drive, we decided to check out the Pyeongtaek port area. There are different areas around the harbor and like a bunch of other places in Korea, there were touristy spots. The area we went to was pretty quiet and had a nice boardwalk with different art sculptures and an art garden, placed by the art museum across the street (which was closed while we were there). At one end of the boardwalk was a small play area that some vendors had set up. There was a big trampoline, a carnival swing ride, and Power Wheel like toys for rent. Elizabeth wanted to try driving, so we got her behind the wheel of a pink roadster. She obviously wasn't used to turning the wheel to change direction because she kept circling around as if she were in a NASCAR race going around the big oval. She changed cars a few times and even wanted to try out the Jeep/SUV. More kids joined in on the fun, which resulted in Elizabeth experiencing her first car accident (a front-end collision to be exact). After driving for a bit, she wanted to go ride the swings. As soon as she saw that the ride spun around, she lost heart and flat out said "No". During all of the excitement, Vincent was just taking in the fresh air. He didn't really make much of a peep. After walking around a bit more, it was time to leave. Maybe one day we'll explore some more of the area and see what else the port has to offer. -T
