Local Tastes and an Elephant

One thing we made a point of doing while on holiday was to eat the local food. The meals served at the resort were great, but being in Thailand meant that we had to try real Thai food. Right outside the gate, there were a few options with more towards Kata Central. We ventured out a few times and had some of the curries and noodle dishes. Elizabeth did really well with the food and even with the waitresses. On one of the nights we went out, we came across a baby elephant with its handlers. People were posing for pictures with it and feeding it fruits and vegetables the owners were selling. So, we bought a bag (I think it was about $2) and tried to interest Elizabeth in giving the elephant a banana, but she didn't want to. She was scared, which I could understand. So, Mom and Dad gave the food. I even got "kissed" by the elephant. I gotta say that the trunk had some prickly hair. -T
